Intelligence Services
Although publicly available information is helpful for background purposes, usually the best way to find out about the threat that some organizations and individuals pose is to obtain secret intelligence about their activities. We gather this information and use it to find out about organizations of interest and their key personalities, infrastructure, intentions, plans, and capabilities. If intelligence is worth recording, we ensure that this is done accurately. We clearly mark its origin and authenticity, and ensure that it can be retrieved swiftly. If we assess that a particular threat needs to be investigated, we deploy resources to obtain further intelligence, and we continually adjust our assessments in light of new intelligence or events

Executive Protection Services
A new wrinkle in the fabric of VIP/Executive Protection emerged recently shifting emphasis from preventative measures to post-incident preparation and contingency planning. This trend towards reactive security has the ability to obscure the primary focus of VIP/Executive Protection in subtle ways. It is important, even critical, to know how to react and train to react properly, but reacting properly is not enough, especially if there are measures available to help avoid danger in the first place. The proper approach to VIP/Executive Protection has been, and always will be, preventative, proactive steps taken to reduce the likelihood of attack.
The objective of any Protective Mission is to prevent unintentional injury to the client (vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, natural disasters), avoid embarrassing situations (unwanted media attention, invasion of private life, intrusion into corporate affairs), and anticipate and avoid intentional attack (criminal threats, hijacking, kidnapping).
Our services include, but are not limited to:
•    Threat Analysis (Investigative and Operational Activities);
•    Constant analysis of the circumstances surrounding the assigned client in order to identify, evaluate and control potential risk;
•    Protective Formations for weapons at close range and at a distance;
•    Surveillance Detection for picking up of intelligence teams as they gather intelligence on the client and the Protective Detail;
•    Protective Intelligence to determine if groups or individuals fit into any one of the attack categories that would threaten the client, causes him physical harm or embarrassment;
•    Security Perimeters established to deny access to the client as much as is possible and to ensure that those that do have access do not pose a threat;
•    Advance Work that considers any potential danger points;
•    Motorcades to move the client quickly and safely through potential danger points;
•    Security Mission Planning;
•    Security Advance – Itinerary;
•    Emergency Response
•    Emergency Response represents a Reactive Element of a Proactive Security
•    Program, and a critical element of that.
•    Security Advance – Location;
•    Security Advance – Transportation;
•    Emergency Response.

Proactive Security can best be defined as a security program designed to anticipate and avoid danger. Proactive security suggests a comprehensive approach involving client threat analysis, advance planning and training for these threats, logistical sophistication designed to balance the comfort level of an assigned client with proper security procedures, and a thorough emergency/crisis management plan. VIP/Executive Protection Providers (Personal Protection Officer – “PPO”, or Close Protection Officer – “CPO”, Protective Security Detail – “PSD” and other Security Personnel) operate most effectively when they understand the risk facing their client, prepare to reduce or avoid those risks, and have the ability to react properly while maintaining a comfort level suitable to the client.
SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS
Our group in general

TACSAR Search & Rescue is operated as an independent organisation operating under the auspices of an incorporated company not for gain (Section 21) known as TACSAR Ministries (Pty) Ltd. While primarily offering LOGISTIC SUPPORT for SEARCH & RESCUE operations, we are a multi skilled organisation with members trained to provide Off-Road Transport, Communications and Field Operative skills for any Emergency or Disaster situation. We provide a professional service to facilitate the smooth and efficient running of an operation for the Ultimate Benefit of the Casualty.

Logistics / Transport
We are able to transport relief and emergency supplies; evacuate casualties to ambulance or helicopter loading points; and assist with any number of logistical tasks. These tasks are carried out in a controlled and co-ordinated manner under the direction of the Incident Commander or a TACSAR senior member.

Communications

With our communication skills and equipment, we are able to assist in providing an enhanced message handling facility, thereby allowing more informed and accurate decisions to be made by the Incident Commander or planning team. This enables tighter control to be maintained over resources in the field. We are also able to assist with the relaying of radio communications in geographically difficult areas and between different organisations on land, sea and air.

Membership and Training

Anyone who has an interest in our activities is welcome to apply. Membership is divided into four grades:
Member,
Basic,
Intermediate and
Advanced.

Promotion to a higher grade requires the attainment of specific objectives including the passing of written, physical and team tests. As rescue operations are a team based operation if the member cannot operate within the team structure to the approval of Team Leaders then the member will be informed that further training and development is needed.

Members receive training in off-road driving techniques, logistics, radio communications, rope rescue, map and compass, in addition to allied subjects such as call out and operating procedures, incident management, helicopter-drills and search base operations. This enables the members in the unit to work effectively as a team as well as integrate with other organisations.
Definition

As said above, TACSAR is a joint venture between the Provincial Governments of the South Africa, represented by the Directorate of Emergency Medical Services (Metro EMS), and the member organisations. This is the structure in which we work together:

Each Organisation, Group funded or volunteer, has a representative in the Management Advisory Committee (MAC) which decides on the future development of TACSAR.
APU – Anti Poaching Unit
Due to the ongoing war against poaching TacSAR is constantly upgrading our Anti-Poaching infrastructure, besides getting information from the national Anti-Poaching Intelligence, we use bush trap cameras that send images on real time through to our security team as early warning signs, we have recently added a permanent K9 units as part of our reaction and patrolling teams.
These armed guardians of our wildlife, work day and night doing fence patrols, snare sweeping across the reserve and they are deployed for ambushes in order to prevent wildlife crime. Added to this special unit, we also have the WILDLIFE PROTECTION AND MONITORING TEAM dedicated to guarding our prized wildlife under threat of extinction. We have also procured the services of ex SAPS officer from the endangered species unit who have joined us to protect not only Fauna but Flora as well thus ensuring we are able to protect our National Heritages for our group as well as offer these services on contract to emerging and existing reserves.
The protection, rehabilitation and survival of our wildlife is an absolute priority to the Management and Owners of TacSAR.
We are proud to announce a new volunteer opportunity in the Mpumalanga  Highveld of South Africa. Selected recruits will have the opportunity to join patrols, assist with security, boost the team size, bring sponsored gear from TacSAR’s suppliers to the teams on the ground and share the enthusiasm to save our Fauna and Flora from poachers.
